Freezing Rain and Heavy Rainfall Set to Impact Atlantic Canada
Hey everyone, if you're in Atlantic Canada, brace yourselves! A significant weather system is heading our way, bringing a mix of freezing rain and heavy rainfall over the next couple of days. Environment Canada has issued warnings for multiple regions, urging residents to prepare for potentially hazardous conditions.
Starting tomorrow, southeastern New Brunswick is expected to experience a prolonged period of freezing rain. Meanwhile, most of southern New Brunswick, including Carleton County, could see up to 60 millimeters of rainfall between Monday and Tuesday. That much rain in such a short time could lead to localized flooding, so it’s important to stay alert and take precautions.

Northern Labrador is also in the path of this system, with freezing rain expected to taper off by the afternoon. However, another round of freezing rain could hit Nova Scotia’s Cumberland County North and the Cobequid Pass tomorrow. In addition, areas like Yarmouth, Digby, Annapolis, Kings, and Cumberland counties are forecasted to receive as much as 45 millimeters of rain.
Prince Edward Island isn’t in the clear either. Freezing rain is expected to start in the western part of the island and gradually spread eastward, making travel conditions extremely dangerous. Icy roads, power outages, and difficult commutes could all be part of the picture.
With conditions like these, it’s crucial to stay updated with the latest weather alerts and take necessary safety measures. If you need to travel, drive cautiously, and if possible, avoid going out until conditions improve. Make sure to have an emergency kit ready in case of power outages, and check in on friends and family who might need assistance.
This weather system is shaping up to be a major event, so let’s all stay safe and prepared. Keep an eye on updates from Environment Canada and local authorities. We’ll get through this together!
