He picked up a turnover in the neutral zone, skated in, and fired a beautiful wrist shot from the top of the left circle , beating Utah’s goalie Karel Vejmelka on the blocker side. The Devils took the lead, and they weren’t about to let it go.
Curtis Lazar sealed the deal at 12:44 of the third, capitalizing on a loose puck and again beating Vejmelka on the blocker side to make it 3-1. Meanwhile, New Jersey’s goalie Nico Daws was rock solid, making 24 saves to keep Utah at bay.
This win marks another strong road performance for the Devils, who have now won four of their last five away games . And let’s not forget the defensive effort—New Jersey has given up just one goal in their last three road victories .
For Utah, this one stings, especially since it snapped their four-game home winning streak. But they won’t have much time to dwell on it, with another tough matchup coming up against Detroit on Thursday.
