Frederic, a 6’3”, 221-pound power forward, arrives from the Boston Bruins after a multi-step trade process. First, the Bruins sent him to the New Jersey Devils with 50% of his salary retained, and then New Jersey flipped him to the Oilers in exchange for unsigned prospect Shane Lachance . Frederic has played 57 games for the Bruins this season, contributing eight goals and seven assists , while bringing a physical presence with 155 hits , ranking second among Bruins forwards in that category. Over his career, he’s put up 55 goals and 54 assists across 337 NHL games .

Max Jones, another big-bodied forward at 6’3”, 216 pounds , also joins the Oilers. The 27-year-old was originally a first-round pick by the Anaheim Ducks in 2016 and has played 258 NHL games . While he has primarily played in the AHL this season, registering 13 goals and eight assists in 38 games for the Providence Bruins, he adds depth and versatility to Edmonton’s lineup.

The Oilers also acquired Petr Hauser , a 21-year-old prospect currently playing in Czechia’s top league . Hauser, originally a fifth-round pick by New Jersey in 2022 , has appeared in 25 games this season, tallying one goal and three assists. He also has experience on the international stage, representing Czechia in the 2022 and 2023 World Junior Championships , where he helped secure a silver medal .

To complete these deals, Edmonton sent Max Wanner, a 2025 second-round pick (originally from St. Louis), and a 2026 fourth-round pick to Boston. While parting with future assets, the Oilers clearly believe these acquisitions can contribute immediately.

With Frederic and Jones adding size and physicality, and Hauser bringing potential for the future, these moves could provide the spark the Oilers need as they gear up for a playoff run.
