Patrice Evra: From Man Utd Legend to Aspiring YouTube Star
Patrice Evra, a name synonymous with Manchester United's golden era, has once again made headlines—but this time, for an entirely different reason. The former United left-back, who won 14 trophies with the club, has declared that he would rather be remembered as a YouTuber than a football legend. Yes, you heard that right!
Evra, now 43, has transitioned from the football pitch to the digital world, embracing the life of a content creator, entrepreneur, and entertainer. His latest venture sees him joining 'Inside,' a Netflix reality show hosted by YouTube giants, The Sidemen. The show, structured in a Big Brother-style format, brings together influencers and celebrities who must complete challenges while keeping a prize pot as high as possible.
During his introduction on the show, Evra made a statement that stunned both football and social media fans alike. With a confident smile, he introduced himself by saying: "Hi, my name is Patrice Evra. I'm 43. I'm a former football player. Now, I'm a creator, entrepreneur, businessman, and I make people happy. I really want to be on YouTube and do great stuff. I hope that in a year, people will say, 'Oh, this is the YouTuber.' I would prefer that over being called a Man United legend."

The reaction? A mix of disbelief and amusement. YouTube comedian Stephen Tries, who narrates the show, couldn't hide his shock: "Come on, Patrice... You're a Champions League winner! A five-time Premier League champion! A France international! Everyone knows who you are."
His comment also became a running joke when rapper DDG, another participant, admitted that he didn’t recognize the football icon. It was a stark reminder of how Evra is now trying to carve out a new identity beyond the sport that made him famous.
For many football fans, Evra’s legacy is already sealed. With 379 appearances for Manchester United between 2006 and 2014, he played an instrumental role under Sir Alex Ferguson, winning multiple Premier League titles, a Champions League, and several domestic cups. His career also included stints at Juventus, Marseille, and West Ham before he hung up his boots in 2018.
Since then, Evra has reinvented himself as a social media personality, known for his infectious energy, humorous videos, and motivational content. His catchphrase, "I love this game!" has become a signature line among fans who adore his unique approach to life after football.
But could Evra really transition from being a football legend to a full-time YouTube sensation? It’s not impossible. We’ve seen ex-athletes successfully cross into entertainment, and with his charisma, Evra certainly has the potential to thrive in the digital space.
Whether or not the world will recognize him more as a YouTuber than a footballer remains to be seen. One thing is certain: Patrice Evra will always find a way to entertain, no matter the platform.
