Sault College Delays Opening Due to Hazardous Weather Conditions
Hey everyone, if you're a student at Sault College or planning to visit the campus, take note—classes and activities won’t be starting on time this Monday. Due to deteriorating weather conditions and hazardous roads, Sault College has announced that it will remain closed until noon on March 31, 2025. That means students and staff get a little extra time to stay indoors and avoid the icy conditions outside.
This decision was made in response to freezing rain and worsening travel conditions, which have made roads slippery and potentially dangerous. Sault College President David Orazietti confirmed the delay in an official statement sent out to local media, emphasizing the safety of students and faculty. All classes and campus activities scheduled before noon have been officially canceled.

But this isn’t just about Sault Ste. Marie. While the city has been spared the worst of an ice storm sweeping across Ontario, other regions, including Barrie and Orillia, have been hit hard. Power outages and states of emergency have been declared in several central Ontario communities, making it clear that this storm has had a significant impact.
For those wondering whether the delay might be extended further, the college will reassess the weather conditions by 10 a.m. and provide further updates as needed. So, if you're a student or staff member, keep an eye on your emails and the college’s official communication channels for any new announcements.
In the meantime, stay safe, take it slow on the roads if you must travel, and enjoy the extra morning hours to catch up on some rest—or maybe even some last-minute studying. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
