Scottish Tourist Robert Cadger Found in Naples Hospital After Week-Long Disappearance
It’s a story that has gripped many—a Scottish tourist, Robert Cadger, who had vanished for a week in Italy, has finally been found. The 47-year-old, from Stirling, Scotland, had traveled to Naples on March 8, excited to explore the city, visit historic sites, and attend a highly anticipated Serie A football match between Napoli and Fiorentina. However, what was supposed to be a short holiday turned into a distressing ordeal.
On March 10, just two days into his trip, Robert and a friend took a train to Pompeii, planning to tour the ancient ruins. He had agreed to wait at the entrance for his companion, but mysteriously, he was nowhere to be found. Later, he informed his friends that he was heading to the Spanish Quarter in Naples to meet them. They spoke to him over the phone, and everything seemed fine—but he never showed up. That was the last known contact anyone had with him.

As days passed, his family and friends grew increasingly worried. His disappearance was baffling, and concern mounted when it became clear he had missed his scheduled flight home on March 11. Adding to the alarm, he had left his bank card behind at his accommodation and had only limited cash on him. His phone had also been switched off, with no bank transactions recorded since he went missing.
After a desperate week-long search, Robert was finally located in a hospital in Naples on March 18. Reports indicate that he had suffered broken bones, though the exact circumstances surrounding his injuries remain unclear. His family, who had feared the worst, expressed immense relief upon learning that he was alive. His brother, Euan, took to social media, writing, “We’ve found Bob! He’s in a hospital in Naples, safe in the orthopaedic ward. We still don’t have all the details, but we are beyond grateful for all the support we’ve received.”
With Robert expected to remain in the hospital for at least two weeks, his family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover medical expenses, travel costs, and accommodation for loved ones who wish to be by his side during his recovery. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming, with many offering donations and kind words of encouragement.
Although the details surrounding his disappearance and injuries remain unknown, what matters most is that Robert has been found and is receiving the care he needs. The family remains hopeful that he will make a full recovery and be able to return home soon. Until then, they continue to express their gratitude to everyone who helped spread awareness and supported them through this unsettling time.
