Vipraj Nigam – The Rising All-Rounder Making Waves in IPL 2025

At just 20 years old, Vipraj Nigam has already started turning heads with his performances in domestic cricket. His breakthrough moment came in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, where he bagged eight wickets with an impressive economy rate of just over seven. Though his batting opportunities were limited, he made a significant impact when required, including a rapid eight-ball 27-run cameo alongside Rinku Singh to chase down a 157-run target against Andhra.

His all-round capabilities caught the attention of IPL franchises, and during the mega auction in Jeddah last year, Delhi Capitals secured him for ₹50 lakh. The investment seems promising as he displayed his power-hitting skills in a pre-season intra-squad match, scoring a quickfire 54 off just 29 deliveries, including seven boundaries and two sixes.
Nigam's journey to the IPL wasn't overnight. He made a mark in the UPT20 league, where he scalped 20 wickets in 12 matches at a stunning strike rate of 11.15. His ability to deliver under pressure, especially in defending totals, showcased his temperament and skill as a bowler. He was particularly effective with both his traditional leg breaks and deceptive googlies, making him a valuable asset in the shortest format of the game.
Now, stepping into the IPL, he joins forces with Delhi Capitals’ spin department, which already boasts seasoned campaigners like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.
