AirAsia Brings Back the Bali Dream for South Aussies with New $199 Flights

Hey everyone, here’s some awesome travel news that’s just dropped—especially if you’re in South Australia and love a good Bali getaway. Budget airline Indonesia AirAsia has officially announced it will launch a direct flight route between Adelaide and Denpasar, Bali, starting from June 25, 2025. And get this—the starting fare is just $199. Yep, you heard that right!

This move is a huge win for South Australians who’ve been craving more accessible and affordable options to reach Bali, which is still one of the most loved travel destinations for Aussies. Until now, the only airline offering direct flights between Adelaide and Bali was Jetstar. Virgin Australia pulled its service last year, leaving limited choices. But that’s changing in a big way.

Indonesia AirAsia will operate this new route four times a week, with flights departing Adelaide at 11:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Return flights from Bali will leave at 7:50am local time on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. These flights will be operated on a 180-seat Airbus A320-200, making it a comfortable and efficient journey for holidaymakers.

What makes this even more exciting is the potential impact. According to Adelaide Airport officials, this route could serve over 74,000 South Australian travelers every year. That’s not just a holiday opportunity—it’s a big boost for tourism, local businesses, and airport traffic. And with Jetstar flights priced between $279 and $608 around the same travel periods, AirAsia’s entry at $199 is seriously competitive.

The CEO of Indonesia AirAsia, Veranita Yosephine, called this a major milestone, saying Australia is one of their most important growth markets. They've already expanded to Cairns, Darwin, and Perth recently, and Adelaide is the next piece of the puzzle.

And let’s be real—Bali has a special place in the hearts of many Australians. Whether it’s for the beaches, culture, spas, or the affordable luxury lifestyle, there’s always a reason to head back. So if you’ve been waiting for an excuse to book a Bali escape without breaking the bank, this might be your moment.

Mark your calendars for June, because those dreamy Balinese sunsets just got a whole lot closer.
