Gun Violence Rocks Columbus as Multiple Victims Critically Injured in Separate Shootings

Hey everyone, I want to talk about something really troubling that’s been happening right here in Columbus. Over the weekend, the city was shaken by multiple shootings — some of them just minutes apart, and all of them leaving people seriously hurt. It’s the kind of news that makes you stop and really think about where we are as a community.

Let’s start with Saturday evening in the South Linden area. Just before 8 p.m., police responded to what was first thought to be a car accident near Cleveland Avenue and 12th Avenue. But things quickly took a darker turn. It wasn’t just a car crash — it became a shooting investigation. One person was found critically injured and rushed to Grant Medical Center. That victim is now fighting for their life. It’s terrifying to think that someone could be driving down the street and end up caught in something like this.

And it didn’t stop there. Just a few days earlier, two more young men — 18 and 19 years old — were shot in what police are calling “targeted attacks” near the Northern Lights Shopping Center, also along Cleveland Avenue in the North Linden area. One was found outside a convenience store, shot multiple times. The other was discovered not far away, also with serious injuries. Both were taken to the hospital — one in serious condition, the other in critical. And still, no word yet on who’s behind these attacks.

All of this is unfolding in broad daylight, in neighborhoods many of us live in, drive through, or have family in. That’s what makes it feel so close — too close. We’re not talking about far-off places or stories on national news. This is our city. These are our streets.

What’s even more frustrating is that there’s so little information available. No arrests. No known suspects. It leaves the community on edge, wondering when the next headline will hit — and who it’ll involve.

This isn’t just about crime stats or headlines anymore — it’s about the very real fear and pain these incidents are causing. It’s about neighborhoods that feel under siege and young lives being ripped apart far too soon.

So yeah, this isn’t easy to talk about. But it has to be talked about. Because the more we stay silent, the more this becomes just another day in Columbus. And we all deserve better than that.

Stay safe out there, and keep looking out for one another.
