Last Chance to Enrol — Your Vote Matters More Than Ever in the 2025 Election
Hey everyone, I just wanted to jump in and talk about something that’s really important right now — the 2025 Australian federal election. And no, this isn’t just another headline. This is your chance — our chance — to have a say in the direction this country is heading. If you haven’t enrolled to vote yet, time is seriously running out. The deadline to get yourself on the electoral roll is tonight at 8pm AEST , Monday, April 7. That’s it. No extensions. No second chances.
Now, why is this such a big deal? For starters, voting is compulsory in Australia if you’re 18 or older. Not being enrolled means not just risking a fine (which is $20, by the way), but missing out on one of the most fundamental rights we have — the right to shape our future. Think about it. Policies on climate, jobs, education, healthcare — all of that is shaped by the people we elect. And if you’re not voting, someone else is making those decisions for you.
The election itself is happening on Saturday, May 3 , so mark that in your calendar. Parliament has already been dissolved, which means we’re now in caretaker mode until the election decides who takes the reins.

More than 18 million Australians are already enrolled, which is actually the highest number ever. That’s incredible — and if you’re not on that list yet, now’s the time to fix it. It only takes a few minutes online through the AEC website . You can do it on your phone, your laptop, wherever you are. Got your Medicare card? That’s now accepted for ID when registering. Couldn’t be easier.
And here’s something else cool: for the first time in Australian history, Gen Z and millennials will outnumber baby boomers at the ballot box. That’s huge. It means younger voices could really influence the outcome. But that only works if we actually show up. If we enrol. If we vote.
If you’re overseas or can’t vote in person on May 3, don’t worry. You’ve got options. You can apply for a postal vote until April 30, or hit up an early voting centre , which opens from April 22. And yes, there’s info on the AEC site for Australians living abroad too. No excuses.
Whether you're voting for the first time or the tenth, this election matters. The makeup of Parliament is shifting, electorates have changed, and the result might even be a hung parliament. Every vote, especially yours, could tip the scale.
So if you’ve been putting it off — now’s the moment. Enrol. Double check your details. Be counted. Let’s show up, make noise, and make sure the Australia we wake up to on May 4 is one we all helped shape.
Go on. Do it now. You’ve got until 8pm.
