Markram and Badoni Shine as LSG Post 180 Against RR in Jaipur Thriller
Hey everyone, what a match it's been so far in the IPL 2025! Lucknow Super Giants put on a solid show with the bat, thanks to some fantastic performances by Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni. Let me take you through how it all unfolded at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
LSG won the toss and Rishabh Pant decided to bat first. The pitch looked dry, and with no dew expected, this was a bold but calculated move. Mitchell Marsh opened alongside Aiden Markram, but it was a short stay for Marsh, who was sent packing early by Jofra Archer with a mistimed shot. Nicholas Pooran followed soon after, falling to a perfect yorker from Sandeep Sharma. At 46/2 in just the fifth over, things were looking shaky for LSG.
Enter Markram, who looked calm under pressure. He didn’t just anchor the innings—he took charge. Playing with confidence, he smashed Wanindu Hasaranga for back-to-back sixes and reached his fifty in just 31 balls. His timing was sublime, finding gaps, clearing boundaries, and keeping the scoreboard ticking. It was a captain’s knock, and he ended with 66 off 45 before falling to Hasaranga, who was Rajasthan’s standout bowler with figures of 2/31.

Meanwhile, Ayush Badoni came in and played a mature innings. He soaked in the pressure, rotated strike, and didn’t let dot balls pile up. His half-century came in 33 balls, filled with smart shots and clever placements. Unfortunately, he got out immediately after reaching his fifty, trying to go big but mistiming it straight to deep point. Still, his innings was crucial in taking LSG past the 150-mark.
With David Miller and Abdul Samad finishing the innings, LSG ended at 180/5. The last few overs didn’t see a flurry of boundaries, but the foundation laid by Markram and Badoni ensured they had a competitive total.
On the bowling front, Rajasthan Royals had their moments. Jofra Archer was sharp and economical, giving away just 32 in his 4 overs with a wicket. Sandeep Sharma and Tushar Deshpande also chipped in with one wicket each, while Hasaranga’s spell really helped tighten things up in the middle overs.
It’s all set up nicely now. With a target of 181, it’ll be interesting to see how RR responds, especially without Sanju Samson, who missed the game due to injury. Can Riyan Parag lead his side to a successful chase? Or will the LSG bowlers defend this total on a tricky Jaipur pitch?
Let’s see how it plays out—this one’s shaping up to be a proper IPL classic!
