Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Now Open in Canada—Here’s How to Secure Yours
Hey folks, if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the next generation of Nintendo gaming, now’s your chance—Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders have officially kicked off in Canada! But this isn’t your average online shopping spree. Nintendo is rolling things out a bit differently this time, and if you want to be one of the first to snag the new console, you’ll need to follow a few key steps.
So here’s the deal: Nintendo is asking fans to register their interest through the official My Nintendo Store . This means you won’t just be clicking “Add to Cart” on release day. Instead, you’ll sign in with your Nintendo Account, and if you’re eligible, you’ll receive an invitation email when it’s your turn to buy.

Now here’s where things get a little more selective. Nintendo is prioritizing invitations for those who’ve shown loyalty to the brand. If you’ve had a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership for at least 12 months and logged at least 50 hours of gameplay by April 2, 2025, you’ll be among the first in line. After that, it’s first-come, first-served for everyone else who registers. Oh—and don’t forget, you need to be at least 18 years old and living in either the U.S. or Canada.
Once you receive your invitation (starting May 8, 2025), you’ll have 72 hours to complete your purchase. That includes the system and any optional accessories you want to add. Just a heads up: you can only buy one system and one of each accessory per eligible account. And yes, there are a couple bundles available—including one with Mario Kart World , which sounds like a solid deal at $449.99. There’s even a limited-time production window running through Fall 2025, so this isn’t going to be on shelves forever.
Shipping is available across the U.S. and Canada, including P.O. boxes. But don’t expect to walk into a store to grab it—you won’t find this at physical retail locations like Nintendo New York or San Francisco. Payment is due up front, and they’re accepting Visa, Mastercard, Google Pay, and Apple Pay (no eShop gift cards, unfortunately).
So, if you’re hyped for the next evolution of Nintendo gaming, now’s the time to get ready. Register your interest, double-check your account info, make sure your email is ready to receive that golden invitation, and prep your wallet. When the window opens, you’ve got 72 hours to make it happen. Game on!
