Shooting at Columbus Donatos Leaves Community Shaken and Manager Hospitalized
Hey everyone, I want to talk about something serious that’s been unfolding right here in Columbus. If you haven’t heard yet, there was a disturbing incident at the Donatos Pizza on North High Street in Clintonville late Sunday night. A manager at the location was shot outside the restaurant, and he’s now hospitalized. Thankfully, he’s expected to survive, but the whole event has left the community really unsettled.
It all started around 10:50 p.m., when emergency services received a 911 call from an employee who was working that night. She didn’t witness the shooting, but she was the first to report that her manager had been shot. Another person who heard the gunfire also called 911, describing a chilling scene—he saw the injured man on his knees, praying, while another employee rushed to help.
The Columbus police responded quickly, and while the manager was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in stable condition, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. As of now, there’s no information on the suspect or what exactly led up to the shooting. The police have confirmed that their robbery unit is leading the investigation, which suggests this could have been connected to a break-in or some kind of attempted theft.

One local resident, Joe Palazzo, shared just how unsettling this is. He lives just a few doors down from the Donatos and said it’s “freaky” to have something like this happen so close to home. He captured what many in the community are probably feeling—concern for safety in a neighborhood that usually feels pretty calm and secure.
Donatos themselves issued a statement, expressing their sadness and support for the injured manager. They made it clear they’re cooperating fully with the investigation and that the well-being of their team members is a top priority.
What’s most striking is that this wasn’t just some anonymous crime that happened somewhere far away—this is local. It’s a reminder that even places we feel safe in can become the scene of violence in an instant. We all like to believe we can walk around our neighborhoods without fear, but this shows just how unpredictable life can be.
I think it’s important that we not only hope for the manager’s full recovery but also keep an eye on how the investigation develops. And let’s not forget about the emotional toll this takes on the staff, witnesses, and the broader Clintonville community. Everyone deserves to feel safe at work, and we’ve got to support each other through moments like this.
Stay safe out there, and let’s keep showing up for our community.
