Today, I want to talk about someone whose name has long been synonymous with beauty, elegance, and transformation. Silvia Galván — the iconic stylist who shaped the image of Mexico’s biggest stars — has sadly passed away at the age of 70. Her death, announced on April 16th, 2025, comes just over a month after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It's a loss that hits deep, not only in the world of entertainment but in the lives of countless people she touched with her talent and warmth.

Silvia wasn’t just a hairstylist — she was a visionary, a pioneer in personal image, and someone who built an empire around helping others feel their best. She began her journey in Monterrey, where she studied at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. From humble beginnings, she opened her first salon and quickly became the go-to name for grooming in the region. But her ambition didn’t stop there. In 1985, she took a bold step forward, launching the Silvia Galván Image Studio in San Pedro Garza García. That one location blossomed into a prestigious chain of salons that became a reference point for style and sophistication across Mexico.

Her work reached a national stage when she collaborated with Televisa Monterrey, styling hosts and celebrities, which eventually led her to Mexico City. And that’s where her career exploded. Silvia worked with legends like Verónica Castro, Yuri, Galilea Montijo, Belinda, Sylvia Pasquel, and Andrea Legarreta. She wasn’t just styling hair — she was helping create the personas that millions would come to admire on screen.

But beyond the glitz and glam, Silvia was also a devoted mother. Her daughters, Jessica and Ericka, were the ones who shared the heartbreaking news of her diagnosis and later, her passing. In their statement, they expressed deep gratitude for the love and support they've received — a reflection of just how cherished Silvia was.

Even now, her legacy lives on through the many salons she established throughout CDMX and the State of Mexico. From Polanco to San Ángel, Del Valle to Satélite, her presence remains strong. Her studios continue to serve as sanctuaries of beauty, professionalism, and empowerment for women — exactly what Silvia always stood for.

It’s impossible to sum up the life of someone like Silvia Galván in just a few words. Her hands shaped the public image of stars, but her influence went far beyond aesthetics. She inspired confidence, broke industry boundaries, and turned beauty into a powerful form of expression. Silvia Galván didn’t just style hair — she styled history.

Rest in peace, Silvia. Your scissors may be still, but your legacy will forever shine.
