So, here's something that’s got people talking — Sir Michael Fabricant, the flamboyant former MP, has just become the first celebrity to be voted out of this year's Celebrity Big Brother . Yep, the same Michael Fabricant who repped Lichfield in Parliament for over 30 years and was knighted not too long ago. He's already out of the Big Brother house, and let’s just say, the public didn't hold back.
When he stepped onto the walkway after being evicted, the reception was... less than warm. Crowds booed as he was greeted by hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best. It’s a dramatic shift from his days at Westminster — a big stage to a very different kind of spotlight. Fabricant himself admitted in a post-show interview that the whole experience was "completely different" from what he imagined. He said he expected to have to "endure it day-by-day," but still seemed to leave with a pretty upbeat attitude.
He actually had kind words for his housemates, which included singer Chesney Hawkes, actor Jack P Shepherd, TV presenter Angelica Bell, and soap star Patsy Palmer. According to Fabricant, they were all “lovely,” and his main goal was to lift spirits in the house. Whether or not that worked, well… the public vote clearly had its own opinion.
It’s worth noting this isn’t exactly a random career move. After losing his seat to Labour’s David Robertson last July, many figured Sir Michael would turn toward something a bit more... performative. Lichfield’s council leader Doug Pullen even said he wasn’t surprised to see Fabricant sign on for the show. I mean, if you've seen Michael in interviews or on social media, it kind of tracks — he’s always had a flair for the dramatic.
Still, it’s wild to see someone go from decades of political life — and even getting knighted at Windsor Castle just a few months ago — to being booted from a reality TV show in the first week. But that’s the rollercoaster of modern fame, right? From Parliament to prime-time, only to be voted off by the same public you once represented.
It just goes to show, in the Big Brother house, there’s no such thing as seniority — it’s all about the vibes, and apparently, Sir Michael’s didn’t click this time.
