Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash Open Their Home in Candid New Show
So, Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have taken a massive leap with their latest project—a fly-on-the-wall reality series giving us an unfiltered look inside their family home, Pickle Cottage. And let me tell you, they weren’t entirely prepared for what that meant! Stacey admitted that as filming went on, she suddenly realized just how much the cameras were capturing. "And then you panic a bit," she said, laughing. But in the end, she came to embrace it. Because, as she puts it, "everything isn't perfect," and that’s exactly what makes it real.
The couple, who we’ve already seen tackle various TV adventures—whether it was surviving the jungle in I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! or Stacey’s mission to declutter homes in Sort Your Life Out —are now inviting us into their everyday chaos. And according to Joe, they didn’t want to sugarcoat anything. "Our lives are not that exciting," he joked, wondering if people would really want to watch them take the kids to school and change nappies. But that's the beauty of it—because in reality, millions of us do live that life, and seeing them juggle it all makes them that much more relatable.

Speaking of their family, the couple has quite the dynamic household. Joe, 43, and Stacey, 35, are raising five children—Zach, Leighton, Rex, Rose, and Belle—ranging from teenagers to toddlers, along with their two dogs and even four ducks. Despite their somewhat unconventional blended family, Stacey insists they don’t really think of it that way. "To be honest, we’re just a family," she said, and Joe echoed that sentiment, saying he loves his stepsons just as much as his biological children.
It’s clear they rely heavily on their support system—mainly Stacey’s dad and sister—since they don’t have a nanny or au pair. "We live like a kibbutz," Stacey joked, meaning everyone chips in where they can. And with a household that busy, it makes sense!
The series doesn’t just highlight their parenting—it also gives us a glimpse into their relationship. Joe described their dynamic perfectly: "We love each other, but sometimes we kill each other." And Stacey found an unexpected benefit in seeing their interactions play back, saying it gave her a fresh perspective on certain situations.
Beyond the everyday madness, their love and admiration for each other shine through. Joe couldn’t stop gushing about Stacey, calling her "the most wonderful person" and comparing her to a "mother lion" fiercely protecting her cubs. Stacey, on the other hand, praised Joe’s empathy and ability to connect with people. But when it comes to parenting styles? Total opposites. Joe tends to be more easygoing, while Stacey finds herself playing the "bad cop" more often. She believes Joe’s approach stems from losing his father at a young age—he just wants their kids to have as much fun and joy as possible.
With teenagers and little ones growing up together, Stacey sees something truly special happening in their household. The older boys get to hold onto their childhood a bit longer while also taking on a sense of responsibility. And for Stacey, watching her eldest, Zach, grow into such an emotionally intelligent young man makes her proud. She credits their early years together—when she was a 17-year-old single mum—for shaping the person he has become.
As for the future? Well, while Joe wouldn’t mind adding another child to their brood, Stacey admits her body is still recovering from having three kids in five years. "My pelvic floor is dying," she joked. But if you think they’re done expanding their family—think again. Stacey has her sights set on more animals. Joe recently overheard her discussing the idea of getting a cow —and let’s just say, he wasn’t entirely on board!
For now, they’re focused on navigating their beautifully chaotic life, and fans can tune in to see it all unfold. Stacey & Joe airs on BBC One, giving us an authentic, heartwarming, and at times hilarious glimpse into the reality of family life.
