Time Is Running Out to Claim Your $1,400 IRS Stimulus Check
Hey everyone, just a quick but important heads-up about the IRS stimulus checks — yes, those $1,400 payments are back in the spotlight, and you might still be eligible to claim yours. If you missed out on receiving part or all of the stimulus money back during the pandemic, this could be your last shot to get that cash.

Here’s the deal. The IRS has started rolling out automatic payments of up to $1,400 for individuals who didn’t claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns. These payments are already being sent out — either through direct deposit or by mail — and they’re based on information from your 2023 tax filing. But, and this is a big but, you must file your 2021 return by April 15, 2025 to qualify if you haven’t already.
Now, even if you made little or no income in 2021, don’t brush this off — you could still qualify. The Recovery Rebate Credit was designed to help folks who didn’t receive the full amount of their COVID stimulus payments, or missed a round altogether. So if you left the credit box blank, marked it as zero, or didn’t know you were eligible, the IRS is stepping in to fix that.
The payments — estimated to total about $2.4 billion — are being sent automatically, so in most cases, you won’t have to lift a finger. If your bank account on file from your 2023 return is still active, you should be seeing that money soon. If the account is closed or there's an issue, the IRS will mail you a check instead. And yes, they’ll also send a letter confirming your payment.
So here’s the bottom line: If you haven’t filed your 2021 taxes, do it now . This credit could mean real money in your pocket. Visit IRS.gov for more details or talk to a tax professional if you’re unsure where to start.
April 15 is coming up fast — don’t let that $1,400 slip away.
