Mikaela Hoover Cast as Tony Tony Chopper in Netflix’sOne PieceSeason 2

The second season is officially introducing one of the most beloved characters from the original manga and anime: Tony Tony Chopper. And guess what? Mikaela Hoover has been announced as the actor who will bring this quirky, adorable, and deeply intelligent reindeer doctor to life!
Netflix made the big reveal during its Tudum fan event on May 31, 2025, and honestly, it’s a perfect casting choice. Mikaela Hoover will be voicing Chopper and also providing the facial motion capture for the CG-animated version of the character. So while Chopper won’t appear in traditional live-action form, we’ll still get a performance that blends acting with technology in a way that brings out all the emotion and charm Chopper is known for.

This reveal came as part of a much broader showcase featuring the core Straw Hat crew — Iñaki Godoy (Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji) — all of whom joined the announcement to welcome Hoover to the team. And if you’ve followed Hoover’s career, you’ll know she’s no stranger to high-profile roles. She’s previously lent her voice to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 , The Suicide Squad , and also appears in Superman this summer. That kind of experience with both physical and voice performances makes her a strong fit for such a unique role.
In the One Piece universe, Tony Tony Chopper isn’t just comic relief. He’s the crew’s doctor, a skilled medical genius who also happens to be a reindeer who ate a Devil Fruit that lets him transform into different humanoid forms.
