Air India Flight Returns to Hong Kong Amid Tense Aviation Climate
Just days after a devastating crash that took the lives of 241 people, Air India has once again made headlines—this time for a mid-air turnaround. Flight AI315, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which had just taken off from Hong Kong en route to New Delhi, had to return to its origin shortly after takeoff due to what the airline described as a “technical issue.”
The timing of this incident couldn’t have been more critical. The global aviation community is still reeling from the aftermath of the tragic Air India crash involving Flight AI171 near Ahmedabad, where only one passenger survived. According to flight data, AI315 took off around 12:20 p.m. local time and reached an altitude of about 22,000 feet before pilots decided it was best to turn back. Audio from air traffic control confirmed the cautious approach, with one of the pilots stating, “We don’t want to continue further,” before requesting permission to land back in Hong Kong. The plane landed safely, and all passengers were reported to be unharmed.
