Allianz Stadium's Future Sparks Community Buzz and Broad Support
Hey everyone, have you heard the latest about Allianz Stadium and what’s coming next? There’s been a lot of talk around the stadium's plans for the future—and for good reason. The Rugby Football Union (RFU), in partnership with Allianz Stadium (which many still know as Twickenham Stadium), has just wrapped up their second public consultation, and the feedback is painting an interesting picture.
Back in March 2025, the RFU launched the next phase of their vision to transform the stadium into more than just a sporting venue. They’re looking to host a wider range of non-sporting events—think concerts, cultural events, maybe even festivals. Over 300 people showed up in person at their exhibitions, and another 680 took part online. That’s a solid turnout, and it shows just how much people care about how this venue evolves.

The feedback? Mostly positive. Around 56% of those surveyed said they strongly support hosting more non-sporting events at the stadium. Another 17% are somewhat supportive. Yes, there are concerns—especially around transport and potential anti-social behaviour—but these weren’t ignored. In fact, 75% of respondents strongly support improving transport links and crowd management. That’s a big vote of confidence that the RFU is on the right track.
Even more interesting is the support from residents living just 5–15 minutes away. Nearly half—46%—strongly support the plans. That’s notable because those are the people who will be most directly affected by any changes. Of course, not everyone is on board; 20% of that group are strongly opposed. But that’s the beauty of these consultations: people are being heard, and their concerns are part of the planning process.
What also stands out is the support for a proposed community fund and better local ticket access. This isn’t just about big names and big events—it’s about making sure the stadium continues to be a valued part of Twickenham’s identity.
A final decision could come as early as September 2025, when the RFU is expected to submit its planning applications. So while we wait, it’s encouraging to see real dialogue happening between the stadium, the RFU, and the local community.
