What an incredible journey it has been for Caroline and Tom Bridge — a mother and son duo from Hargrave in Suffolk — who just won Race Across the World 2025. Their story has touched so many hearts, not just because they crossed the finish line first after a gruelling 51-day race across Asia, but because of the bond they’ve forged and the inspiration they’ve sparked in others along the way.

Now, imagine this: you’ve raced over 14,000 kilometres — from the Great Wall of China to the southernmost tip of India — all without a smartphone, GPS, or even a credit card. That’s exactly what Caroline and Tom did. They went from being the last team in the first leg to clinching victory in one of the closest finals in the show’s history. At one point, they were a day and a half behind. But they didn’t give up. They kept pushing forward, step by step, country by country, moment by moment — all the way to Kanniyakumari.

Tom, only 21, said he’s never been prouder of his mum. And honestly, you could see the emotion on both their faces as they signed the final check-in book. Caroline — who had never travelled like this before — admitted it took everything out of her. She was tired, hungry, dirty, and drained. But through all the discomfort and exhaustion, she kept going. And it paid off.

It wasn’t just about winning the £20,000 prize. It was about something deeper — a transformation. Caroline says the experience brought her and Tom closer than ever before. Now, they make more time for each other. They appreciate the simple moments. They’ve come out of this race not just as winners, but as stronger, more connected individuals.

And they’re not done yet.

Caroline and Tom are already planning their next adventure: backpacking through Kazakhstan. This time, they'll bring a phone — something they weren’t allowed during the race — but the spirit of adventure remains the same. They want to travel light, be impulsive, and embrace the unknown again.

Tom is back at work, and they’re saving up for the trip. Caroline mentioned how much they love walking and don’t mind roughing it. It’s clear this race ignited a shared passion that neither of them expected. And it’s one that’s now fueling their next journey together.

So while the finish line in India may have marked the end of Race Across the World , for Caroline and Tom, it’s only the beginning of a lifetime of travel, discovery, and unforgettable moments.
