In the early hours of Monday morning, between 3:25 and 3:40 a.m., two separate fires broke out, just fifteen minutes apart and only a few streets away from one another. These were not accidents. According to the first information released by the police in Ch'steauroux, both incidents appear to be of criminal origin. We’re talking about deliberate acts—arsons that destroyed a total of five cars and caused additional property damage.
The first fire started on Avenue Maurice Thorez. A single car was set ablaze. But it didn’t stop there. The flames quickly jumped to a nearby vehicle, engulfing both in fire. As the fire grew, it damaged a glass recycling container, an adjacent tree, and even a fence. Authorities are also concerned that the intense heat may have affected a heat pump unit attached to a nearby residence.

Barely a quarter of an hour later, at 3:40 a.m., another fire broke out on Rue du Docteur Lamaze. This time, again, one car was the target—but the blaze spread, destroying two more vehicles parked nearby. That’s three more lives disrupted. Three more families waking up to scorched metal and the lingering smell of smoke.
The emotional impact of these crimes goes beyond the burned-out shells of vehicles. It’s the fear that creeps in when you realize someone walked down those familiar streets with malicious intent.
