Ford Issues Urgent Safety Recalls for F-150 Lightning and Other Models

Hey everyone, I want to bring your attention to some important news for drivers and vehicle owners—especially if you own a Ford. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has just released a series of safety recalls affecting a wide range of commercial vehicles, and several Ford models are right at the center of it. These are not minor updates—they involve serious safety issues that could increase the risk of accidents if not addressed.

One of the biggest headlines is the recall of nearly 30,000 Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickups from model years 2024 and 2025. These trucks, which have been leading the electric pickup market, may have an improperly tightened nut on the front upper control arm. If that nut loosens, the control arm can detach from the steering knuckle. That basically means you could lose control of the vehicle while driving—a terrifying scenario. Ford is asking owners to bring their vehicles in for inspection and repair. Dealers will check the ball joint nut and replace it or the entire knuckle assembly as needed. Notices are expected to start going out by mail on June 9.

But that's not all. Another issue involves the electronic stability control system—or ESC—on some 2022–2023 F-150 Lightning models. A software glitch means the ESC may not activate when you start the car. So even though the system is supposed to keep you safer by preventing loss of control, it might just not be working at all. Again, Ford will issue a software update, and the fix will be done by the dealers.

The recall also covers vehicles with malfunctioning rearview cameras. Over 1 million Ford vehicles are affected, including models like the Bronco, Edge, Escape, Expedition, Transit, Mustang, and even some Lincoln variants. The camera image might freeze or fail to display altogether when the car is in reverse. That’s a clear safety hazard. Owners will get an interim letter on June 16, and then a second one later in the year once a complete fix is available.

There’s also an issue with the instrument panel on some 2022–2023 Ford Transit vans. Basically, critical alerts like your speedometer or warning lights might not light up properly. Ford is rolling out another software update for this issue, with notices going out on June 23.

In total, we’re talking about multiple recalls involving hundreds of thousands of vehicles. If you think your Ford might be affected, don’t wait. Check the NHTSA website or call their hotline at 888-327-4236. You can also contact Ford customer service directly at 866-436-7332. Safety should never be put on hold.

So spread the word. Whether you’re a fleet manager, a business owner, or just a Ford driver, make sure your vehicle is safe and up to date.
