Gen.G Completes Thrilling Reverse Sweep to Secure LCK’s Top MSI Seed
What an unbelievable series we just witnessed—Gen.G Esports has pulled off one of the most epic comebacks in recent LCK history. On June 13th at the Busan Sajik Indoor Gymnasium, Gen.G faced off against their long-standing rivals, Hanwha Life Esports, in the final round of the 2025 LCK MSI Representative Qualifier. After falling behind 0-2 in the best-of-five series, Gen.G flipped the script and claimed a stunning 3-2 reverse sweep to secure the LCK’s top seed for the Mid-Season Invitational.
Let me tell you, the early part of the series looked grim for Gen.G. Hanwha Life came out strong, dominating the bot lane in Game 1 with Viper’s Varus tearing through the opposition. They caught Delight’s Nautilus and consistently outplayed Gen.G in key skirmishes. Despite a few glimmers of hope—like Chovy’s triple kill at Baron—Hanwha Life stayed calm, grabbed the Dragon Soul, and closed out the first game confidently.
Game 2 wasn’t any easier. Hanwha Life once again struck first, with an aggressive level-one pick on Chovy’s Ryze and full control over early objectives. Gen.G tried to fight back with a sneaky Baron, but Hanwha countered perfectly and dismantled their efforts. With a clean win, Hanwha Life took a dominant 2-0 lead, and it looked like they were ready to cruise to victory.

But this is where the story flipped.
Game 3 saw Gen.G change gears. They caught Zeka’s Sylas early, let Chovy’s Aurora shine, and started gaining control through impeccable team coordination. They secured Rift Herald, built a lead, and methodically pushed through Hanwha’s defenses to take their first win of the series.
Then came Game 4—pure textbook execution. Canyon’s Lee Sin was everywhere, pulling off a critical dragon steal while Gen.G began racking up objectives. Though Hanwha Life made a valiant effort to stop the bleeding with some strong teamfights, Gen.G struck back hard with a flawless counter-attack at Baron. A crushing CC chain gave Gen.G everything they needed to destroy Hanwha’s Nexus and bring the score to an even 2-2.
And finally—Game 5. High pressure. Everything on the line.
Hanwha Life tried to dive top early, but Kiin’s Aatrox held firm. Gen.G played it smart, with Canyon’s Wukong stealing the first dragon and Gen.G gradually taking control of the map. Despite one big fight that denied Gen.G Soul Point, they bounced right back with superior positioning, objective control, and decisive teamfighting. Once they secured Baron and stretched the gold lead, there was no stopping them. They steamrolled the final moments, shattered the Nexus, and with that—completed a legendary reverse sweep.
This wasn't just a win. It was redemption. Gen.G had lost multiple Bo5s to Hanwha Life recently, and to pull this off on such a huge stage makes their victory even sweeter. They now move forward as Korea’s number one seed heading into MSI, proving once again why they remain a dominant force in League of Legends esports.
