Hey everyone, huge news in the world of survival horror — Konami has officially announced that they are remaking the original Silent Hill ! That’s right, the game that started it all back in 1999 is getting a modern reimagining, and it’s happening with the help of Bloober Team — the same studio that developed the remake of Silent Hill 2 , which landed to pretty solid reviews just last year.

Konami dropped this reveal during their latest "Press Start" online presentation, and while the announcement didn’t come with gameplay footage, screenshots, or even a release date, it’s enough to stir excitement in longtime fans and newcomers alike. A brief teaser and the unmistakable theme music from the original game played during the segment, strongly pointing to a faithful return to the eerie town of Silent Hill where it all began.

For those who might not know, the first Silent Hill follows Harry Mason, a man desperately searching for his missing adopted daughter in a fog-drenched, nightmare-fueled town full of disturbing monsters and twisted psychological horror. It was a genre-defining game — not just because of its gameplay or scares, but because of the atmosphere and the way it played with the player's mind. So the idea of bringing that experience to modern platforms with today’s visual and audio technology? That’s thrilling.

The fact that Bloober Team is behind the wheel again is reassuring for many fans. Their work on Silent Hill 2 might not have pleased everyone, but it was generally well-received, earning strong critical praise. They clearly understand the tone and psychological depth required to bring this kind of world to life. That said, they’ve got their hands full — they’re also developing Cronos: The New Dawn , which is slated for release this fall. So while we don’t know when the remake will drop, it might be a little while.

Konami also used this presentation to highlight Silent Hill f , an entirely new entry in the series that’s set in Japan — a first for the franchise. That one’s launching on September 25th, and it looks incredibly creepy in all the right ways. Between that and the remake news, it’s clear Konami is fully back in the game when it comes to Silent Hill .

If you’re a fan of psychological horror or just have fond memories of the foggy streets and radio static from the original, this remake is something to keep a close eye on. The town of Silent Hill is calling us back — and I, for one, can’t wait to answer.
