Northern Lights May Dance Again Tonight Over UK and Beyond

This all started on Sunday, June 1st, when a powerful burst of energy from the Sun—what scientists call a coronal mass ejection —reached Earth. Now, here’s the exciting part: according to the UK Met Office, this geomagnetic activity might linger into tonight—Monday, June 2nd—and into the early hours of Tuesday morning. That means the aurora could still be visible, especially if you're in Northern Ireland, Scotland, or northern parts of England. Over in North America, the Space Weather Prediction Center suggests that northern U.S. states and most of Canada still have a solid shot at seeing more auroras tonight.
What’s fueling this celestial show is a very active region on the Sun’s surface, known as AR4100. It's responsible for the recent solar flare that kicked everything off. And while solar activity is expected to gradually ease, conditions are still ripe for the occasional burst that could light up our skies again.
If you're in Australia, don’t feel left out—the Southern Lights, or aurora australis , may also make another appearance tonight. The Australian Space Weather Forecasting Centre is still reporting ongoing visibility conditions.
