Terror in Boulder: Man Charged with Hate Crime After Flamethrower and Molotov Cocktail Attack on Pro-Israel Group
I want to talk about a shocking and deeply troubling incident that took place recently in Boulder, Colorado. On a busy Sunday at the popular Pearl Street pedestrian mall, a man named Mohamed Sabry Soliman launched a violent attack against a group supporting Israeli hostages in Gaza. This was not a random act of violence—it was a premeditated act of terror motivated by hatred.
According to court documents and FBI reports, Soliman, a 45-year-old who was living in the U.S. illegally, planned this attack for over a year. He targeted what he called a “Zionist group” and armed himself with homemade Molotov cocktails and a makeshift flamethrower. Witnesses say he shouted “Free Palestine” as he threw incendiary devices, injuring at least eight people aged between 52 and 88, including a Holocaust survivor.
Authorities discovered a terrifying arsenal at the scene: more than a dozen unlit Molotov cocktails, a weed sprayer filled with gasoline, and gasoline canisters inside his nearby car. It’s chilling to know he had prepared to cause even more harm.

The FBI confirmed that Soliman confessed to the attack, admitting he “wanted to kill all Zionist people” and expressed that he would do it again. The attack came amid rising tensions between Israel and Hamas, which has sadly triggered a wave of antisemitic violence in the U.S. and around the world.
President Donald Trump condemned the attack as “horrific” and blamed the current border policies for allowing the suspect to enter the country illegally, pledging full prosecution and possible deportation under his administration's policies.
Soliman faces federal hate crime charges, attempted murder, and other serious state charges. His bail was set at $10 million. Law enforcement officials said the suspect acted alone and was injured during the attack before being taken into custody.
Neighbors described Soliman as a quiet family man, but some noticed troubling behavior like shouting and yelling late at night. He had also worked as an Uber driver and in healthcare administration, showing how someone living a seemingly normal life can harbor such violent intentions.
This act of terror has shocked the community, prompting tributes to the victims and calls for justice. It’s a harsh reminder of the ongoing threat posed by extremist hatred and the importance of vigilance, community solidarity, and the rule of law in protecting innocent lives.
The Boulder attack is not just a local tragedy but a stark symbol of the dangerous rise of ideologically motivated violence in today’s world. We must confront and condemn such acts unequivocally, standing firm against hate in all its forms.
