And yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like: a massive countdown of the greatest Australian songs ever made, as voted by the public. That’s us!

From sweaty festival mosh pits to quiet drives with the radio on, Aussie music has always hit a little different — raw, real, and uniquely ours. So now we get the chance to return the love and celebrate the songs that shaped us.

Here’s how it works. Voting is open right now — just head over to the triple j Hottest 100 voting page and start picking your favourites from the longlist. Can’t find the song you’re looking for? No stress, you can manually add it to your shortlist too. The only rule? Your chosen track needs to have been released before January 19, 2025 — that’s the station’s official 50th birthday.
And let’s be clear — this is no ordinary countdown. This one is all Australian . No international features unless they’re just that — features . It’s a celebration of music made right here, by artists who’ve helped define and redefine what Australian sound is. Think Tame Impala, Powderfinger, The Wiggles, Flume — the legends and the fresh blood. The only exclusion? Like A Version covers — those had their own moment in the sun back in 2023.
