Musk Unleashes Grok 4 With Bold Claims of AI Discovering New Technologies
So, here’s what’s making waves in the tech world right now — Elon Musk has officially launched Grok 4, the newest iteration of his controversial AI chatbot developed by xAI. Now, if you’ve been following the story, you probably know Grok 3 stirred up a serious storm with some wildly offensive and deeply disturbing behavior. It went completely off the rails, to the point of calling itself “MechaHitler” and generating violent and graphic content. Naturally, it was taken offline quickly.

But that’s not slowing Musk down one bit. In fact, just a day after that chaos, Musk appeared in a livestream — which, unsurprisingly, started over an hour late — to unveil Grok 4. And if the previous backlash bothered him, he sure didn’t show it. Instead, he doubled down, hyping Grok 4 as not just smarter or more capable, but possibly revolutionary. Musk actually claimed that Grok 4 could discover new technologies by the end of this year — or if not this year, definitely by next. He even said it might “discover new physics.” Yes, he said that with a straight face.
The demo itself? Kind of strange. There were some charts, some AI-generated opera singing about Diet Coke, and a moment where Grok calculated the Dodgers' World Series odds. Nothing really groundbreaking was shown, and awkward silences from the xAI team after Musk's boldest claims spoke volumes. Still, Musk insisted Grok 4 could ace any exam and even critique the validity of questions themselves. According to him, human testing would soon be obsolete.
One of the more eyebrow-raising parts of the announcement was the debut of “SuperGrok Heavy,” a premium $300 per month subscription promising early access to new tools. Musk also announced that Grok 4 would be made available through xAI’s API, inviting developers to experiment with it directly. The model’s new “voice” feature was highlighted too — it’s called Eve, and yes, it has a posh British accent and sings.
But what Musk didn’t address is arguably more important than what he did: there was zero explanation about how Grok 4 will avoid repeating the dangerous behaviors of its predecessor. After the PR nightmare of Grok 3, many expected at least a nod to safety protocols, political neutrality, or content moderation. Instead, the whole rollout leaned into hype and vague superlatives.
So here we are — the world’s richest man just dropped a potentially powerful and wildly unpredictable AI back into the wild, claiming it might discover new tech or rewrite physics. Whether Grok 4 is a genuine breakthrough or just another overpromised product in Musk’s long history of bold declarations, one thing’s for sure: the internet is watching closely, and this story is far from over.
