Perth Freezes Before Front Brings Hope of Milder Days

Hey everyone, let’s talk about this weather in Perth—it’s been seriously cold lately. I’m talking about the kind of cold that makes you hit snooze just to stay under the covers a bit longer. Earlier this week, Perth experienced its coldest morning in two years, dipping to just 2.2 degrees Celsius. That’s not just chilly—it’s a slap-in-the-face kind of cold for a city that usually doesn’t see those kinds of temperatures.

But there’s some good news on the horizon. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, a cold front is sweeping across Western Australia and it might finally give us some relief. Meteorologist Miriam Bradbury shared that while it’s bringing some cloud cover and light showers to the south-west, it’s also pushing those freezing temps inland—meaning Perth could start warming up, at least a little.

Don’t get your hopes up for tropical conditions just yet. The rain we’re expecting is on the lower side, and by Saturday, those showers will start to become more isolated. It’s not going to be a washout weekend, but you might want to keep the umbrella close, just in case.

It’s been a rough stretch for the thermostat here in Perth, but it looks like things are finally turning a corner. We’re not out of winter yet, but hey, if the mornings don’t make you feel like you’ve been dropped into a freezer, we’ll take that as a win.

So, rug up a bit longer, maybe enjoy a hot drink or two, and hang in there—milder days are on the way.
