Spurs Kick Off Action-Packed Pre-Season with Double Clash Against Wycombe and Luton
Tottenham fans were treated to a busy Saturday as the team took on not one but two pre-season friendlies in a single day — a proper football feast. First up was a behind-closed-doors encounter at Hotspur Way against League One side Wycombe Wanderers, and just hours later, the squad hit the road to face Premier League rivals Luton Town at Kenilworth Road. All of this was made available to fans through SPURSPLAY, the club’s dedicated streaming platform.
The decision to add an extra match to the pre-season schedule came just a couple of days before kickoff. Head Coach Thomas Frank explained that the goal was to give as many players valuable minutes as possible to improve their match fitness ahead of the upcoming season. He noted that two strong lineups would be fielded, with players expected to get between 60 and 75 minutes of action — maybe even more. By the end of the day, a total of 22 players would have been put through their paces, giving the squad a solid workout before their overseas tour.

The morning match against Wycombe kicked off at 11am and saw plenty of action. Pape Matar Sarr gave Spurs an early lead, but the visitors hit back through Armando Junior Quitirna, who equalised after a mistake from Tottenham’s goalkeeper Austin. Quitirna struck again shortly after halftime with a powerful finish, turning the game in Wycombe’s favor. Tottenham pushed hard to draw level — Pedro Porro even rattled the crossbar — but the League One side held firm, showcasing their grit despite the high-profile opposition.
Notably, Rodrigo Bentancur was a last-minute absence due to illness, with George Abbott stepping in to fill his role in midfield. It was a setback, but one that gave the youngster a valuable opportunity to impress in front of the coaching staff.
The match was streamed live on SPURSPLAY, allowing fans to tune in from home, starting just before 11am. Then, after a short break, the coverage shifted to Luton Town vs Spurs for a 3pm kickoff. The two-match setup not only gave the players crucial minutes but also kept fans fully engaged throughout the day — a rare and exciting format.
This packed day is just a part of what’s shaping up to be an exciting pre-season. With upcoming fixtures against Arsenal in Hong Kong, Newcastle in Seoul, and Bayern Munich in Germany, Spurs are clearly not holding back in their preparations. And with SPURSPLAY offering live access to it all, supporters can follow every step of the journey — no matter where in the world they are.
