Supercomputer Predicts Premier League Twist—Liverpool to Fall Short
Alright, so here’s something that’s been getting a lot of attention lately—especially if you’re a Liverpool fan. Despite the club’s massive summer spending spree and high hopes under new manager Arne Slot, a recent prediction from an AI-powered supercomputer is throwing cold water on the idea of back-to-back Premier League titles for the Reds.
Last season, Liverpool shocked many by clinching the Premier League title right after Jurgen Klopp’s departure. Arne Slot stepped in, and against all odds, led the club to glory in his debut campaign. It wasn’t just that Liverpool played well—it was also about rivals like Manchester City and Arsenal failing to step up when it mattered. That opened the door for the Reds to run away with it.
Fast forward to this upcoming season, and the expectations are sky-high again. Liverpool have already spent over £269 million, and they’re still shopping. They broke the British transfer record to land Florian Wirtz for £116 million and are now eyeing Newcastle’s Alexander Isak for an even bigger fee—potentially £125 million. That’s not small change. Add to that Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, and goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, and you’d think they’re building an unstoppable force.

But here's where it gets tricky. Despite all this firepower, the supercomputer has Liverpool finishing third in the final Premier League table for 2025–26. That’s right—third. The same position they landed in during the 2020–21 season, when they were last defending champions under Klopp.
According to the projection, Manchester City are set to reclaim the crown with 92 points, powered by a 36-goal season from Erling Haaland and strong performances from Omar Marmoush, Phil Foden, and Rodri. Arsenal, for the fourth year in a row, are tipped to finish second. Liverpool, meanwhile, will land on 85 points—not bad, but not good enough.
The AI model says Slot’s new-look team will be exciting going forward, especially with Salah flanked by Wirtz and Ekitike. But it’s their defence that could be the Achilles’ heel. Losing Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid and dealing with ongoing injury issues could prove costly, especially against top-tier teams.
Elsewhere, the prediction has Chelsea rounding out the top four, with Manchester United jumping ten places to fifth—still just missing out on Champions League football. At the bottom, the three newly-promoted teams—Burnley, Sunderland, and Leeds—are all expected to go right back down.
So, while Liverpool fans have plenty to be excited about, this latest forecast serves as a reminder that trophies aren’t won on paper—or even in the transfer market. They’re earned on the pitch, one game at a time.
