Let me tell you about a truly electric performance in cricket that’s got everyone talking. Tim David just made history for Australia in a T20 International, and it was nothing short of spectacular. In the third match of a five-game series against the West Indies at Warner Park in Saint Kitts, David hit the fastest T20I century ever by an Australian. He reached his hundred in just 37 balls , finishing unbeaten on 102 runs , and helped secure a six-wicket win for Australia.

This wasn’t just any knock—it was pure carnage. David smashed 11 sixes and six boundaries , turning what looked like a challenging chase into a comfortable win. What’s even more impressive is that the previous Australian record—held by Josh Inglis—was set just last year, off 43 balls. So David didn’t just break it—he shattered it.

Interestingly, David isn’t new to explosive batting, but getting a T20 hundred for Australia had always seemed just out of reach for him. In his own words, he was just "having a great time" and didn’t expect the opportunity to come. Having played previously for Singapore before debuting for Australia in 2022, this was a special moment, and he knew exactly how to make the most of it. He credited the small boundaries at Warner Park and his CPL experience for helping him adapt, and said he’s been focusing more on shot selection lately—not just power hitting.

Now, it’s worth noting that Australia didn’t start smoothly in the chase. After putting the West Indies in to bat, they had to face a fiery innings from Shai Hope, who remained unbeaten on 102 off 57 balls , with Brandon King adding a solid 62. The West Indies posted a mammoth 214 for 4 , which looked like a serious target. Australia’s top order stumbled early, slipping to 61 for 3 in less than six overs. But then came David.

His innings completely turned the game. Alongside debutant Fraser-McGurk Owen, who chipped in with a handy 36*, David powered Australia to victory with 23 balls to spare —an emphatic win that also clinched the series, giving them an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh summed it up best: "There are no words for that innings from David." And rightly so. It was one of the fastest centuries ever in T20I history—joint third among full ICC members, alongside some big names like Rohit Sharma and David Miller. Only Sahil Chauhan’s 27-ball record for Estonia stands ahead.

The fourth match is coming up soon, but after this, all eyes will be on Tim David to see what he does next.
