Tragedy in Rosemeadow: Young Girl Injured in Hit-and-Run Dirt Bike Incident

What happened in Rosemeadow recently is nothing short of heartbreaking. A nine-year-old girl was left seriously injured after a horrifying encounter with a dirt bike rider at a local park—an incident that has not only shaken the community but sparked a desperate police search for answers.

It all unfolded around 5:45pm on July 10, at a sporting field off Copperfield Drive, in the quiet southwestern Sydney suburb of Rosemeadow. A dirt bike, reportedly unregistered and being ridden illegally, came barreling down a hill. Tragically, it struck the young girl, running over her head and chest. Shockingly, instead of stopping to help, the rider allegedly muttered a quick apology before speeding off, leaving the child hurt and terrified on the ground.

Bystanders rushed to her aid, calling emergency services immediately. Paramedics arrived on scene quickly, stabilizing her and transporting her to Westmead Children's Hospital, where she remains in serious condition with facial and internal injuries. The emotional toll on her family and those who witnessed the event is immense. No child—or parent—should have to endure something like this.

NSW Police responded swiftly, establishing a crime scene at the park and launching an appeal for public assistance. They’re urging anyone who may have seen the rider, or who might have footage from the area around that time, to come forward. Calls can be made confidentially to Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or online at crimestoppers.com.au.

It’s infuriating and heartbreaking. Parks should be a safe space for kids to play—not places where reckless, illegal riders endanger lives. This incident has raised serious concerns about off-road vehicle use in public areas and the need for better enforcement to prevent tragedies like this.

As a community, we owe it to that little girl and her family to speak up. Someone out there knows who this rider is. Even the smallest detail could help bring justice—and perhaps a sense of closure—for a family now living a nightmare.
