Aaron Judge Nears Return to Yankees After Elbow Scare
Alright, big update for Yankees fans—Aaron Judge is expected to make his return to the lineup very soon, possibly as early as Tuesday or Wednesday during the upcoming series in Texas. That’s some serious good news for a team that’s definitely been missing his presence on the field and at the plate.
So, here’s what happened. Judge initially injured his right elbow on July 22 while trying to gun down Davis Schneider at the plate during a game against the Blue Jays. He stayed in the game despite clearly being in pain—he actually grimaced the next inning but still pushed through and played the following two games against Toronto and then Philadelphia. That toughness is classic Judge, but the discomfort clearly didn’t fade, and he was eventually placed on the 10-day injured list.

Now, even though the Yankees confirmed that there wasn’t any acute damage to his ulnar collateral ligament, the kind of injury that can be really serious for a thrower, he did receive a platelet-rich plasma injection last Saturday to help with healing. Since then, he’s been easing back in. During the team’s recent homestand, he was spotted doing light fielding drills—nothing too intense and, importantly, no overhand throws just yet. Manager Aaron Boone said they’re targeting a window between August 8 and 13 for him to resume throwing.
But here’s the exciting part: Judge has already resumed on-field batting practice. That happened just this past Friday before the Yankees’ game against the Marlins down in Miami. That’s a big step forward and a sign that the team is confident he’s trending in the right direction.
At this point, his return feels like it’s just around the corner. And honestly, the timing couldn’t be better. The Yankees have had to grind through games without their reigning AL MVP, and getting him back in the middle of a playoff push could be the boost they need.
So, barring any setbacks, fans can likely expect to see Aaron Judge back in pinstripes and swinging the bat again within the next few days. All eyes will be on Texas next week—get ready.
