So here's something both heartwarming and fabulous—two legends of the stage, Bernadette Peters and Dame Elaine Paige, are teaming up once again to co-host West End Woofs (and Meows) , an annual live pet adoption event in London. It’s happening on August 9 at St. Paul’s Church in Covent Garden, and honestly, it’s become quite the theatrical tradition—with a tail-wagging twist.

The event kicks off at 10:15 in the morning with a pet meet-and-greet. Imagine dozens of adorable, adoptable dogs and cats just waiting to charm the socks off potential new families. Then at 11 AM, the real show begins—literally. These four-legged stars will make their stage debut alongside a glittering lineup of West End talent from productions like Hamilton , Les Misérables , Oliver! , The Devil Wears Prada , and The Phantom of the Opera . Some of the big names joining in this year include Cassidy Janson, John Owen Jones, Orfeh, Lesley Nicol, Mazz Murray, and many more familiar faces from the theatre world.

This is the third live edition of West End Woofs , and it’s grown into quite the spectacle. Elaine Paige and Bernadette Peters first hosted it virtually back in 2020 during lockdown. Then, in 2023, they brought it to the stage, and it’s been getting bigger—and more adorable—every year. Last year alone, dozens of pets were adopted into loving homes, and this year they’re aiming even higher.

Bernadette, who also co-founded the long-running Broadway Barks with Mary Tyler Moore, said she’s thrilled to be back and hopes to help even more animals find their forever homes. Elaine echoed that excitement, calling Bernadette her "glamorous partner-in-paws" and promising another unforgettable day of cuddly companions and showbiz sparkle.

And it’s not just for show—every penny from the £5 tickets goes directly to the participating rescue groups. Organizations like All Dogs Matter, Pro Dogs Direct, Peterborough Cat Rescue, and Saving Saints Rescue are all involved. Even Mayhew Therapaws will be there, showcasing the amazing work they do with therapy animals.

So if you're in London and looking for a little stage magic and a new furry friend, this is the event for you. It's theatre, charity, and cuteness overload all wrapped into one feel-good summer Saturday.
