Fever Face Wings Without Caitlin Clark in Key Home Matchup

Caitlin Clark won’t be suiting up tonight as the Indiana Fever host the Dallas Wings, and that’s a big storyline going into this matchup. The former Iowa superstar, who entered her second WNBA season as the preseason MVP favorite, has been sidelined since July 15 with a groin injury. That setback came late in a win over the Connecticut Sun, when she felt discomfort right after dishing a slick bounce-pass assist. It was later confirmed to be her right groin, and this marks her fourth muscle injury of the 2025 season. She never missed a game in college or her Rookie of the Year campaign, so fans are not used to seeing her in street clothes.

The Fever have been hit hard by injuries beyond Clark. They’re already without point guards Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson for the rest of the season, which forced All-Star Kelsey Mitchell to take over ball-handling duties in their last outing. She responded brilliantly, dropping 26 points and a season-high eight assists in a dominant win over Chicago. To help shore up the backcourt, Indiana signed 12-year veteran Odyssey Sims on a hardship contract. Sims, a former All-Star with over 3,000 career points, could see action right away.

Indiana comes into this one 18-14, riding momentum and aiming for a season sweep over Dallas after going 3-0 in their previous meetings. The Wings, on the other hand, have struggled all year at 8-24, dropping five straight and 11 of their last 13 games. Their bright spot has been rookie guard Paige Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick, who is putting up 18.5 points and 5.3 assists per game and is leading the Rookie of the Year conversation. Dallas might also be without another star, as Arike Ogunbowale is questionable with a knee issue.

Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. CT at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Fans can watch live on ESPN or stream through FuboTV with a free trial. For those who miss the live action, the game will also be available on Amazon League Pass after it concludes.

While the absence of Clark changes the dynamic, the Fever’s depth and recent form suggest they’ll still be a tough opponent. And with Bueckers trying to snap Dallas out of their slump, there’s still plenty of star power on the floor. Even though Clark’s return date remains uncertain, the Fever’s playoff push continues tonight—just without their biggest name.
