Big changes are underway in Marsala as Giuseppe D’Alessandro has officially been appointed the new Commander of the Municipal Police. At 57 years old, with a degree in Economics and Commerce, D’Alessandro brings a wealth of experience as both a chartered accountant and an auditor. He previously led the local police in the nearby town of Paceco, where his leadership and organizational skills were widely recognized.

He steps into the role previously held by Vincenzo Menfi, who has now moved on to serve as Commander in Mazara del Vallo. During the transitional period, the Municipal Police in Marsala were overseen by Vice Commander Salvatore Pocorobba, whose dedication ensured that operations continued smoothly.

Mayor Massimo Grillo, speaking on behalf of the city council, warmly welcomed D’Alessandro, emphasizing the importance of his experience in serving the community. It was highlighted that his leadership would strengthen the police force’s professionalism and sense of responsibility, ensuring that both the enforcement of regulations and community relations are handled effectively.

With the signing of his individual employment contract, D’Alessandro’s three-year term officially begins. This appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for Marsala’s Municipal Police, one that aims to balance firmness with approachability, rules with attentive listening, and enforcement with collaboration alongside other law enforcement agencies. The community can look forward to a police force that is not only efficient but also more connected and responsive to citizens’ needs.

This moment is made even more significant by the upcoming expansion of the Municipal Police. After many years of waiting, new officers selected through a recently launched public competition will soon join the ranks. This influx of personnel promises to modernize and reinforce the structure of the force, ensuring that it is better equipped to handle the challenges of a growing city.

During the official presentation held at the Municipal Palace, Mayor Grillo and the city council introduced D’Alessandro to the public, in the presence of other law enforcement representatives. Gratitude was also expressed to outgoing Commander Menfi for his achievements, and to Vice Commander Pocorobba for steering the transition with dedication, keeping the force stable and efficient.

Marsala now enters a promising phase under new leadership, with the Municipal Police prepared to strengthen their role in the community, promote safety, and foster a cooperative spirit with both citizens and fellow law enforcement agencies. It’s a step forward that has been awaited for years, and the city is watching with hope and optimism as this new era unfolds.
