So, something quite interesting happened on This Morning recently involving Joel Dommett, who’s currently filling in as a presenter. During a live segment, Joel made a pretty surprising confession about his diet — he revealed that he eats six eggs every single day. Yep, six eggs! And not just spread throughout the day, but often all at once. This caught the attention of the show’s resident TV chef, Dr. Rupy Aujla, who quickly gave Joel a gentle but important health warning.

Joel, who’s known for winning I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! , was chatting with Emma Willis on the show, and when the topic of eggs came up, he couldn’t help but gush about his love for them. Emma even recalled how the topic came up in their production meeting the day before, saying Joel got “almost possessed by egg-chat.” Joel admitted to loving eggs so much that he scrambles them, poaches them, and joked that he hasn’t quite managed to swallow them raw yet, but he’s close.

Now, Dr. Rupy jumped in to share some expert advice. While the idea that eating lots of eggs might raise your cholesterol has been a long-standing concern, he explained that for most people, dietary cholesterol doesn’t actually cause a spike in blood cholesterol. However, there’s a catch: about one in five people are “hyper-absorbers” and should be more careful. So, it’s not a one-size-fits-all situation. He advised Joel that even though eggs are delicious, it’s important to “diversify” protein sources and not rely solely on eggs every day.

Joel, being honest and fun as ever, confirmed again that he truly does eat six eggs daily and said he finds himself constantly thinking about how much he loves them. Dr. Rupy recommended Joel get his cholesterol checked regularly to make sure all is well since it’s the best way to know if his egg habit is causing any issues.

For context, the British Heart Foundation says there isn’t a strict limit on egg consumption for most people, as long as the overall diet stays balanced. However, those with familial hypercholesterolaemia — a genetic condition affecting about 1 in 500 people in the UK — are advised to limit eggs to about three or four per week.

In another lighthearted moment on the show, Joel also shared a “weird” health story from his childhood. He talked about a biking accident where he injured his thumbs badly — one of them apparently got pulled so hard that a ligament almost came off the bone. He joked that his wrists are still a bit “weird” to this day, showing that there’s definitely more quirky health stuff about him.

All in all, it was a fun and informative segment on This Morning, with Joel’s egg-eating habits putting a spotlight on how important it is to listen to your body and keep an eye on your health — even if you’re a big fan of something as tasty as eggs!
