Kelley Mack, 'Walking Dead' Star, Dies at 33 After Battle With Rare Cancer
Hey everyone, I wanted to share some really heartbreaking news about actress Kelley Mack, best known for her role as Addy on The Walking Dead . She passed away recently at just 33 years old after a difficult battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called diffuse midline glioma—a type of tumor that affects the brain and spinal cord.
Kelley, whose birth name was Kelley Lynne Klebenow, died peacefully in her hometown of Cincinnati. Her family was by her side, and the announcement was made through her social media and a post on CaringBridge. It was shared that she had been battling this condition for several months, and despite everything she was going through physically, she remained deeply connected to her faith and her loved ones.
She actually opened up earlier this year on Instagram, explaining how the diagnosis came about. It all started with what she thought was just lower back pain—something many of us would probably ignore or attribute to a muscle strain. But it progressed quickly. She described shooting pain, strange itching in her leg, and being unable to lie down because of the pain. Eventually, she had emergency MRIs, which revealed the tumor in her spinal cord. From that point on, her journey became about treatment, strength, and staying surrounded by family.

Kelley had an incredibly full career for someone so young. Along with her role on The Walking Dead , she appeared in Chicago Med , 9-1-1 , and had recent film credits including Mr. Manhattan , Delicate Arch , and the upcoming Universal . She also worked in commercials for brands like Dr. Pepper and Chick-fil-A, and did voice-over and producer work as well.
Her passion for storytelling started young—she got a little video camera as a birthday gift, and that sparked a love for filmmaking and acting. She studied cinematography at Chapman University and turned her childhood dream into a successful and inspiring career.
Her family, friends, and co-stars have been pouring out love and memories. Alanna Masterson, her Walking Dead castmate, remembered her as an incredible person she was proud to work with. Her sister Kathryn wrote a powerful tribute, calling Kelley brave and tough, and even mentioned that Kelley had already made her presence known through butterflies since her passing.
She’s survived by her parents, Kristen and Lindsay, her siblings, grandparents, and her boyfriend, Logan. A celebration of her life is planned for August 16th in Ohio.
Kelley Mack’s story is one of creativity, courage, and an undeniable spark that touched so many. She’ll be deeply missed but never forgotten.
