So, McDonald’s is switching things up again—this time with a fresh new drink lineup that’s being tested at more than 500 of its restaurants across the U.S. If that sounds familiar, it's because the idea is actually inspired by their short-lived spinoff, CosMc’s, which launched late last year and focused almost entirely on beverages.

CosMc’s might have been a short experiment, with only a few locations in places like Illinois and Texas, but it clearly left an impression. Even though all CosMc’s locations were closed earlier this year, McDonald’s decided to take what worked—mainly the drinks—and try them out in its regular restaurants.

Starting September 2, customers in areas like Wisconsin, Colorado, and nearby states will be among the first to taste-test this new lineup. And the selection is pretty exciting if you’re into flavorful, Instagram-worthy drinks. We're talking about options like a Creamy Vanilla Cold Brew , Strawberry Watermelon Refresher , Sprite Lunar Splash , Popping Tropic Refresher , and Toasted Vanilla Frappé . So whether you're into sweet and fruity or rich and creamy, there's likely something in the mix for you.

According to McDonald’s, this is more than just a seasonal promotion—it’s a strategic move to tap into growing demand, especially from Gen Z customers, who are showing a strong preference for cold, bold drinks that go beyond the usual soda and coffee. Alyssa Buetikofer, McDonald’s USA’s Chief Customer Experience and Marketing Officer, even mentioned that this moment is about "showing up in new ways" for afternoon refreshment breaks and snack moments.

The drinks are being tested not just to see which flavors customers like, but also to determine which operations work well in stores. McDonald’s says the feedback from this test run will help them scale the drink offerings smartly and efficiently if things go well.

So yeah, what started as a quirky spinoff concept might soon become a regular part of the McDonald’s menu. If you’re anywhere near one of the testing markets this September, you might want to swing by and give one of these new drinks a try. It’s not every day that McDonald’s brings a whole new beverage lineup into play—and who knows, your feedback could help shape the future of the golden arches’ drink menu.
