NIO’s All-New ES8 Sparks Investor Excitement with Pre-Orders and Price Target Boost

Big news has just come out of the electric vehicle world, and it’s shaking up the market for NIO. On August 21, 2025, NIO officially opened pre-orders for its all-new ES8, a flagship premium SUV that has been eagerly anticipated by EV enthusiasts and investors alike. This third-generation ES8 marks a significant step for NIO, evolving from a mid-large SUV into a true large three-row model, redefining space, luxury, and technology for premium electric vehicles in China.

The pre-order prices were set starting at RMB 416,800 for the six- and seven-seater Executive Premium Edition, or from RMB 308,800 if customers opt for NIO’s Battery-as-a-Service subscription plan. The Executive Signature Edition starts at RMB 456,800, with the BaaS plan bringing it down to RMB 348,800. Early adopters who place pre-orders before the official launch in late September can take advantage of a special promotion: a RMB 5,000 deposit translates into a RMB 10,000 deduction from the final price. On top of this, loyal NIO users receive exclusive repurchasing benefits, including vouchers and bonus points depending on the model they previously owned.

The excitement surrounding the ES8 isn’t just about pricing. Deutsche Bank responded to the pre-launch by raising its price target for NIO’s Hong Kong-listed shares from HK$71 to HK$75, citing stronger-than-expected demand. The bank projects an upside potential of nearly 64% based on this new target. The market reacted immediately: NIO shares in Hong Kong jumped 11.1% to HK$45.76, while US-listed shares hit a ten-month high, trading around $5.89 in pre-market sessions. Analysts are estimating average monthly sales of around 3,000 units, supported not only by the competitive pricing of the ES8 but also by rising production at NIO’s sub-brands, ONVO and Firefly.

Technologically, the all-new ES8 is being praised as a showcase of NIO’s decade-long innovation. It features a 102 kWh battery, dual motors producing 520 kW of power, a 900V high-voltage architecture, and a full suite of AI-assisted driving capabilities. The interior is designed to feel like a “mobile living space,” with three-row zero-gravity seating, advanced audio-visual entertainment, and expansive glass areas for unmatched comfort and visibility. Safety has also been emphasized, with a reinforced cabin structure, 11 airbags, and advanced smart restraint systems.

The ES8 also benefits from NIO’s extensive charging and battery-swapping network in China, which spans thousands of stations and connects major highways and city clusters. This infrastructure ensures that range anxiety is virtually eliminated for long-distance travel, making the ES8 a truly practical premium EV.

All of this is taking place as NIO continues its transformation from heavy investment into a “harvest period,” according to founder William Li. With strong pre-orders, upgraded stock targets, and a suite of innovations in both comfort and performance, the all-new ES8 is not just a car—it’s a signal of NIO’s growing influence in the global electric vehicle market. The excitement on Wall Street and in the investor community shows that the ES8’s impact is being felt far beyond the showroom floor.

This launch is shaping up to be one of the most significant moments for NIO in recent years, blending innovation, luxury, and smart business strategy in a way that has clearly captured both user and investor attention.
