Princess Andre Reflects on a Tough Childhood and Emotional Healing

So, Princess Andre — the daughter of Katie Price and Peter Andre — recently opened up about her childhood in a way that really caught people’s attention. On her new show, The Princess Diaries , the 18-year-old got pretty candid and honest, saying she actually wishes she’d had a happier childhood. And when you hear what she went through, you can understand why she feels that way.

She talked about seeing a counsellor in the past, and how even now, she still checks in with her from time to time. But what stood out was when she said she often finds it hard to talk about her feelings out loud — so she writes everything down in her phone notes instead. That’s such a real, relatable way for someone her age to process things, especially when expressing emotions face-to-face doesn’t come easily.

Princess was only two when her parents split up back in 2009, and although she admits there were "good times" growing up, she also revealed that she faced a lot for someone so young. She said, “I do wish I could have had a more happier childhood,” explaining how she had too much on her plate early on — the kind of things no kid should have to deal with.

One of the most emotional parts was when she spoke about her mum’s breakup with Kieran Hayler, which happened when Princess was ten. Katie Price, by Princess’s own account, went through a really dark period at the time. Princess said it was hard because she had to witness things that children simply shouldn’t be exposed to. And emotionally, she felt like her mum wasn’t really there for her in the way she needed — not because she didn’t care, but because she was struggling herself.

Despite all that, Princess doesn’t seem bitter. She actually praised her mum for the progress she’s made. She described Katie as a “new person” now, saying that even though she’s not fully recovered from her own experiences, she can see that her mum has genuinely worked on herself and changed for the better.

It’s pretty admirable to see someone so young speak with that level of honesty, especially growing up in the spotlight. Princess may have had a tough childhood, but she’s clearly finding her voice — and using it to talk about things that a lot of young people can probably relate to.
