Prison CCTV Captures Shocking Knife Attack on Gang Boss Bassam Hamzy

A shocking video has surfaced from inside Australia’s most secure prison, showing a frenzied knife attack on notorious crime boss Bassam Hamzy. The incident, caught on Supermax prison CCTV, reveals just how sudden and violent the ambush was.

In the footage, Hamzy, who is the founder of the infamous Brothers 4 Life gang, can be seen casually walking around the prison yard with his hands cuffed. He appeared relaxed, even half-smiling, as he approached a barred door where a guard was standing. Another inmate, 28-year-old Lofu Namulauulu, gave him what looked like a friendly pat on the back. But within seconds, that apparent gesture of camaraderie turned into a brutal betrayal.

Namulauulu reached into his prison shorts, pulled out a handmade knife – known in prison slang as a “shiv” – and launched into a savage attack. Hamzy, still restrained by the cuffs, was suddenly trapped and defenseless as the blade was allegedly driven into him repeatedly. It’s claimed the attack was not random at all, but rather orchestrated by a rival crime figure. Investigators allege coded instructions were sent to Namulauulu through a message on the Triple J Unearthed app, accessed via a prison-issued iPad.

The video shows the assault unfolding in chilling detail. Namulauulu is seen stabbing Hamzy at least fifteen times before officers are able to intervene. For several tense seconds, the gang boss remains chained to the door, unable to defend himself. Eventually, a guard unlocks the cuffs, allowing Hamzy to strike back, and for a brief moment the two prisoners trade blows like boxers. But the fight ends violently when Namulauulu knocks Hamzy down and begins kicking him in the head. Only then do prison officers rush through the gate to drag the attacker away.

Hamzy was left with head injuries, though officials later confirmed he refused hospital treatment. Corrective Services NSW described the incident as a serious assault but insisted staff acted swiftly to contain it.

This isn’t the first time Hamzy has been targeted. Over the years, he has survived multiple violent attacks inside Supermax. In one case, another inmate armed with two shivs attempted to kill him. In another, he fought with Talal Alameddine in a clash tied to the bloody turf wars between rival Sydney crime groups. Despite these repeated attempts on his life, Hamzy continues to be one of Australia’s most high-profile prisoners.

Once described as the country’s first “extreme high-risk” inmate, Hamzy is serving more than 40 years behind bars for crimes including murder and drug trafficking. Even from inside prison, he has been accused of orchestrating kidnappings, shootings, and large-scale drug deals through smuggled phones.

This latest video underscores just how dangerous life remains for him inside the walls of Supermax. Even in a facility designed to hold the most violent and unmanageable prisoners, Bassam Hamzy is shown to be a constant target – a man whose name still sparks fear and rivalry in Australia’s underworld.
