Remembering Priya Marathe: A Shining Star Gone Too Soon
Actor Priya Marathe, a familiar and much–loved face from Marathi and Hindi television, has left the world far too early at the age of just 38. Her passing was reported from her residence in Mira Road, Mumbai, where she had been battling cancer for the past year. News of her death has deeply saddened fans and the entertainment fraternity, as her presence on screen had touched many lives.
Priya’s career began in Marathi television, where she first appeared in shows like Ya Sukhanno Ya and Char Diwas Sasuche . These early performances made her a recognized name in the regional industry and opened doors to larger roles. Her versatility as an actor became evident when she seamlessly moved into Hindi television, winning the affection of audiences across India.
She was best remembered for her role as Varsha Satish in the immensely popular series Pavitra Rishta . The show itself was a household name, and Priya’s character became one of its most impactful portrayals. Before this, she had played Vidya Bali in Kasamh Se , a Balaji Telefilms production, which further established her as a capable and expressive performer.

Over the years, she appeared in multiple serials like Tu Tithe Me , Almost Sufal Sampoorna , Yeu Kashi Tashi Me Nandayla , and Bhaage Re Mann . In negative roles too, especially as Monica in Tujhech Mi Geet Gaat Aahe , she left a lasting mark, proving her range as an actress.
Her work was not limited to television. Priya had also acted in films, including the Hindi movie Humne Jeena Seekh Liya (2008) and the Marathi film Ti Ani Itar , directed by Govind Nihalani. These projects allowed her to work alongside acclaimed actors like Sonali Kulkarni, Subodh Bhave, and Amruta Subhash, adding another dimension to her creative career.
Born in Mumbai on April 23, 1987, Priya completed her education in the city before stepping into acting. Her personal life saw a new chapter in 2012 when she married actor Shantanu Moghe, and together they became a respected couple in the Marathi entertainment circle.
Her death has created a void that will not be easily filled. At just 38, with so much talent still ahead of her, it feels as though her journey was cut short too soon.
