Ridley Season 2 Returns with Fresh Faces and Familiar Favorites
After what feels like far too long, the much-loved ITV crime drama Ridley is back on our screens. Fans will be pleased to know that Adrian Dunbar has returned to the role of consultant detective Alex Ridley, ready to dive back into the world of high-stakes investigations and, of course, a little jazz bar crooning on the side.

The second season launches with the episode A Sleeping Tiger , where Ridley teams up once more with DI Carol Farman, played by Bronagh Waugh, to unravel the murder of Ryan—a young man killed just after being released from police custody following suspicion of a jewelry shop robbery. The season promises four distinct episodes, each with its own case, bringing in new characters alongside the returning regulars we’ve grown attached to.
Adrian Dunbar’s Alex Ridley remains the heart of the show. A retired officer drawn back into service by Farman, Ridley still carries the deep emotional scars of losing his wife and daughter in an arson attack. Dunbar, already a household name from Line of Duty , adds his signature blend of authority and vulnerability to the role. Alongside him, Bronagh Waugh’s DI Farman provides the balance—determined, smart, and the reason Ridley is back solving cases in the first place.
Other returning cast members include Terence Maynard as DCI Paul Goodwin, who, despite a rocky past with Ridley, now works alongside him; Georgia Glen as Dr. Wendy Newston, the sharp forensic mind behind the team’s evidence work; George Bukhari as DC Darren Lakhan, always ready to get stuck into the investigation; and Julie Graham as Annie Marling, Ridley’s steadfast friend and owner of the jazz bar where he often performs.
Season two also brings new energy with fresh characters. John Michie joins as Harry Bentham, a businessman forging a connection with Annie. Episode one’s guest cast includes Chloe Harris as Tash Walker, who works at her mum’s pub but holds a key role in the story; Kaya Moore as Callum Douglas, a suspect in Ryan’s murder; Kerim Hassan as Liam Manley, tied both to the case and to Tash; John Henshaw as Frank Stanford, Ryan’s grandfather; and Krissi Bohn as Rebecca Bayling, the lawyer stepping in on Ryan’s behalf.
With each episode introducing a fresh mystery and shifting line-up of suspects and witnesses, viewers can expect a mix of tense crime-solving, emotional undercurrents, and a few soulful performances from Ridley himself. Whether it’s the familiar faces bringing depth to their roles or the newcomers adding intrigue, Ridley season two looks set to keep audiences hooked from start to finish. And with Adrian Dunbar back at the helm, it’s safe to say this return was well worth the wait.
