Surprise Millionaires Revealed in August 2025 Premium Bonds Draw

Have you ever wondered if someone with just a few thousand pounds in Premium Bonds could actually win the £1 million jackpot? Well, the August 2025 draw has just proved that it’s absolutely possible.

National Savings and Investments, or NS&I, has announced the latest Premium Bonds winners — and one of this month’s biggest stories comes from Central Bedfordshire. A lucky saver, holding just £7,000 worth of bonds, was turned into a millionaire overnight. The winning bond — number 148YD123622 — was actually bought all the way back in December 2008. Talk about the long game paying off!

And the second jackpot winner this month? They’re living outside the UK and had £50,000 invested in bonds. Their winning bond, 205XQ030808, was purchased in May 2013. So yes, being overseas doesn’t mean you’re out of the game — as long as you’ve got a UK bank account, you’re still in with a shot.

Every month, NS&I’s so-called “Agent Million” visits the homes of these lucky winners to deliver the life-changing news in person. And while these two scooped the £1 million top prizes, they weren’t the only ones celebrating. In total, over six million prizes were awarded this August, with a combined value of more than £396 million. That includes 75 prizes worth £100,000 each.

One particularly noteworthy winner comes from West Scotland — someone with just £750 invested walked away with £100,000. It’s a perfect reminder that even if you don’t have a huge amount stashed away, each £1 bond has an equal chance of winning.

That said, the odds remain steep — about 22,000 to one for every £1 held. And to top it off, the prize fund rate has just been reduced this month from 3.8% to 3.6%, meaning the overall prize pot is a little lighter than before.

Over in Suffolk, while no one hit the jackpot, the county still brought home more than £800,000 across 317 winners. Two residents there scooped £100,000 each, and six others grabbed £25,000 prizes. Hundreds more won smaller amounts, showing that luck really is spread all over.

With over 132 billion bond numbers in the draw and more than 2.6 million unclaimed prizes still out there, it might be a good idea to check the NS&I app or website — or even ask Alexa — to see if one of them might have your name on it.

So whether you’ve invested £25 or £50,000, this month’s results are a great reminder: you never know when your number might come up.
