Tottenham in Talks to Sign Manchester City's Brazil Winger Savinho
So, there’s been some exciting news emerging around the Premier League transfer scene involving Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, specifically about the young Brazilian winger, Savinho. Tottenham have officially opened talks with Manchester City regarding a potential move for Savinho, who is just 21 years old and has shown a lot of promise in his career so far.
The talks are still in the early stages, and it’s not clear yet whether Manchester City are willing to let him go. In fact, City have made it pretty clear that they aren’t actively looking to sell Savinho and would only consider offers above £50 million. That’s quite a hefty price tag, considering City signed him from French club Troyes just a year ago for around £30.8 million, so they would be making a significant profit if the deal happens.

Savinho’s time at City has been interesting. Last season, he was regularly used by Pep Guardiola, making 48 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals. However, his Premier League goal tally was quite low, just one goal from 29 league appearances. Still, he contributed a lot creatively, with eight assists and plenty of chances created, showing his ability to take on defenders and generate opportunities for his teammates.
The move makes sense for Tottenham because they are currently in need of attacking reinforcements. They recently sold Son Heung-min to LAFC in the MLS, and with key players like James Maddison sidelined due to a serious knee injury, Spurs are looking to strengthen their forward options. Mohammed Kudus arrived recently, but he’s more comfortable playing centrally, so bringing in someone like Savinho, who can operate on the wings, could give the team more tactical flexibility.
Savinho is a left-footed player but has shown he can play on both wings. At City, he was often deployed on the right side, whereas previously with Girona in La Liga, he mostly played on the left. If Spurs manage to sign him, it might allow Kudus to play as a number 10, the attacking midfield role, which could work well given Kudus’ experience there.
Although Spurs already have several wingers, including promising young players like Wilson Odobert and Brennan Johnson, the arrival of a player like Savinho could bring a new dynamic, especially with his dribbling skills and creativity. But there’s some debate about whether this signing would be about adding immediate impact or just stockpiling talent with potential.
Overall, it’s a fascinating development in the Premier League transfer market, and it will be interesting to see how the negotiations unfold and whether Savinho will get a fresh start at Tottenham to help fill the void left by Son and support Spurs’ attacking ambitions this season.
