£100k Reward Offered in Search for Missing Student Jack O’Sullivan
A mystery donor has come forward with an extraordinary offer — a reward of £100,000 has been pledged to help uncover what happened to missing student Jack O’Sullivan. Jack, who was just 22 years old when he disappeared, was last seen in March 2024 after leaving a house party in the Hotwells area of Bristol. Now, more than 18 months later, his family continues to search for answers, and this significant reward has been put in place in the hope that someone will finally come forward with the information they so desperately need.
Jack’s disappearance has left his family in turmoil. His mother, Catherine O’Sullivan, admitted she was initially unsure if the reward offer was genuine, but once confirmed, she said the family was “overcome by the generosity.” She described how overwhelming the experience has been, but also how much hope it brings: if it leads to finding Jack, the family says they will be “eternally grateful.” His brother, Ben, echoed the same sentiment, explaining that the family is willing to accept any help available, as even the smallest chance of getting answers is something they cannot afford to ignore.

The night Jack went missing, he had attended a birthday party. He left shortly before 3 a.m. and told his mother he planned to take an Uber home. But instead, CCTV captured him walking through Bristol. At 3:24 a.m., he tried to call a friend still at the party. The call didn’t connect, and when the friend rang back 10 minutes later, the line only briefly opened before going dead. Despite this, Jack’s phone continued to show as active on a location-sharing app until nearly 7 a.m. That was the last digital trace of him.
In the months since, the family has faced more than just uncertainty. They have been targeted by cruel and abusive messages, including false ransom demands. Catherine described the experience as “incredibly hard to deal with,” though she remains determined to carry on. To support their search, the Missing People charity has displayed digital posters across Bristol, while Avon and Somerset Police have conducted what they call an “extensive” investigation, reviewing over 100 hours of CCTV footage and involving more than 30 specialist teams.
Now, with the £100,000 reward on the table, the family is making another urgent appeal. The offer will go to anyone, apart from police officers, who can provide information that directly or indirectly reunites Jack with his loved ones. His mother describes living through this ordeal as being “on the worst roller coaster ride of your life,” filled with constant anxiety but still carried by hope. She insists that hope will not fade.
Police have confirmed that a senior investigator is carrying out a fresh review of the case, and the public is once again being urged to come forward. For Catherine, Alan, and Ben O’Sullivan, the message is simple: they want Jack home, and they will never stop searching until they have answers.
