Airlines Suspend Workers Over Posts on Charlie Kirk Shooting
Airlines have recently taken serious action after controversial social media posts surfaced in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Delta, American, and United Airlines all confirmed that employees have been suspended after their online comments were deemed inappropriate or supportive of violence.
In a memo shared with staff, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian explained that the company became aware of employee posts about Kirk’s killing that crossed the line from debate into harmful or celebratory language. He stressed that the messages stood in direct opposition to Delta’s values and violated the airline’s social media policies. Those employees have now been suspended while further investigations are conducted.
American Airlines issued a similar statement. According to the company, any employee who used social media to promote or encourage violence in light of Kirk’s death was “immediately removed from service.” United Airlines followed suit, not only suspending workers but also sending a reminder to pilots and crew about the airline’s strict social media guidelines. The airline emphasized that it holds zero tolerance for justifying politically motivated violence in any form.
